Universal Precautions
Universal precautions are taken by the hospital staff in all the patient care activities. The precautionary measures encompass various methods of barrier protection, when in contact with potentially or actually infectious materials. Barrier protection includes masks, cover gowns, gloves and eye wear.
Universal precautions followed at Kalra protect both staff and patients from hospital-acquired infections. This system has been recommended by Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
Medications
The medications that you take in the hospital are prescribed by your doctor, specifically to be administered during the stay. A hospital pharmacist reviews your medications and dispenses them as they are needed. You should not bring your own medications to the hospital, and should never take any medicine unless your doctor approves and a pharmacist double-checks it with the other medications you are taking.
Bed Rails
The bed rails are raised for the protection and safety of the patients. If the patient feels uncomfortable, he or she may call the nurse to lower the bed rails. Do not try to climb over the bed rails or lower them by yourself.
No Smoking
Protecting the health and safety of patients, staff and visitors is the prior concern of Kalra Hospital. Hence, it is declared as a completely smoke and tobacco free zone. Smoking and the use of tobacco is prohibited inside any building in the complex.
Valuables or Lost Items
The hospital maintains a safe and secure environment, but we strongly recommend that you send all your valuables home with a family member or friend. Please notify your nurse, if you need a locker for any valuable. The hospital is not responsible for personal belongings or valuables that are not secured.
Staff Identification
All the employees and volunteers at Kalra Hospital are issued a photo identity card. Anyone providing care should have the hospital identity card or badge. Please feel free to contact your nurse or the administrator if you have questions or concerns.
