Cardiac Anesthesia

Cardiac anesthesia is a sub-specialty of anesthesiology devoted to the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative care of adult patients undergoing cardio-thoracic surgery and related invasive procedures. It deals with anesthesia aspects of care related to surgical cases such as open-heart surgery, lung surgery and other operations of the human chest. However, the scope of cardiac anesthesia is not only limited to these operations.

The Department of Cardiac Anesthesia at Kalra Hospital manages various types of cardio-thoracic, and major vascular surgeries and cardiac catheterization procedures. Cardiac anesthesia brought to application by expert practitioners reduces the complexities involved in the process, and decreases the length of intensive care unit and hospital stay for the patients. The department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art anesthesia machines, facility for invasive hemodynamic monitoring, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) machines and ventilators.

The unit of pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Kalra Hospital provides specific “pediatric cardiac anesthesia” to children undergoing heart surgery. Anesthesiologists at the hospital work closely with pediatrics cardiac surgeons to make child surgeries comfortable by giving anesthesia medicines for children.
